server down temporarily

Server was running fine until the last update. FLHOOK, the files that control POB's, ID restrictions, Mining, start reps, etc. etc. is no longer working. Server is down until morning when I can work on it. I just don't want anything else getting messed up tonight.

They probably messed up the code when they put through the last update and this one is hard to look thru. Lots of semicolons that toggle restrictions.

Well, I had the server running xp sp3. Easier to set up and work with. The new files are supposed to work but they will not install. I have to upgrade the server to win 7 or server 2008 today. Typical GC. Making things impossible while making them easier.

So I need to back up all the files I just fixed, install win 7. Install new mod and then reedit all the files I just fixed. Server will hopefully be back up later today.

ok bud i know how you feel we are with you .Server was down for five and a half weeks because of an ahole and now gc is adding more stress gc has been pissing me off for bout 2 years now it seems they don't want other people to have fun apart from playing their game they only want people on there server seems obvious.Other way may be to fuck discovery altogether. Freelancer has so many systems so many planets so many options so many people that hate gc only expressing my point of view i play to relax and have fun gc are a bunch of morons and they there is a universe out there that they do not control it is up to us to find it.

It seems to me, that other servers had same problems. E.g. "Disco Warzone RP" detached them from GC and went back to an older discovery version (4.87) and stay on that. Maybe similar could be a solution here for the future to prevent these problems.

That is actually a good idea. None of these constant updates we asked for at any time. These are only for the GC players. Sometimes there are 2 updates in 2 days, some causing major upsets like this at the moment. I think it is high time Highguard had some peace of mind after fixing things and not come back home a few hours later to find that everything needs to be re-done all over again.

In that case we have to say goodbye to the launcher but the old account manager can help us out with multiboxing.

If you decide reverting back to 4.87 or an earlier version of 4.88 I would vote YES and forget about this constant nuisance.

On the negative side, we would be left out of the incoming Omicrons revision.

PS. Reverting would even give us more systems... they are constantly deleted in each update.

I have Alley helping out. Maybe today or tomorrow. I'm also downloading 4.88.0 and 4.87.0 to play around with. See what options we have. They did this major change to the files to have the repository on their actual server and make it easier for them. The rest of us are having major issues.
